This is a general overview of our project flow. We will be with you step by step on your project.
Sign OTG Solar contract
Meet project manager
Due to all the different processes that happen outside of OTG Solar, this step of the process takes time. Waiting at least 1 to 3 months at this point is to be expected.
If getting financing: Your project is on hold until the bank has processed your loan. It’s important you get them all necessary documents right away.
Custom system design by OTG Solar
Sign net metering contract
Applications mailed (design, rebates, net metering, etc.)
Design approved by electric company & city (may include county & other offices as well)
Rebates approved by each source of rebate
Net metering approved by electric company: They have 1-3 months, once paperwork is turned in, to approve your application. (30 days for any system 10kW and below. 90 days for systems 11kW and above.)
Receive customer payment for material (doesn’t apply if using our loan program)
Materials ordered: We may deliver to our warehouse in Macon or on site. If delivering on site, we’ll ask you where you’d like them to deliver the equipment (outside is okay, but we can also put them indoors if you prefer).
City permit obtained
Chalk lines on roof will be done same day as installation begins.
Ground Mount layout
Mark all penetrations into the ground, getting dig out to mark out utilities, & dirt work is usually done before equipment arrives.
If you see our trailer parked on your property, your equipment has arrived!
Install the system.
Inspection done by either electrician or city inspector: This may or may not involve electrician/city inspector working on anything.
Jobsite clean up.
All but the final payment is due before moving forward.
If you are using our loan program, we have already received payment in full. We don’t need anything from you in order to move forward at this point.
If not using financing, we will continue once payment has been received.
Once payment is received:
We will turn in necessary paperwork to your electric company so they can set your new meter.
We will turn in all rebate forms with job completion details: Rebate holders require photos and other details from our company to confirm the job has been completed.
We are finished installing your system. We cannot activate the system until the electric company sets your new meter.
You will not be issued a “paid in full” receipt for tax rebates until the final payment is made. You can do that at this time if you’d like, but it’s not required until the meter is set.
Unfortunately, we have no way to know when they schedule your meter to be set. Nor do they notify us of when it has been set. Meanwhile, you’re drooling over the new system you’ve got that only collects energy when plugged in. It’s our least favorite part, but hang in there!
Net metering states they have 30 days from the day we deliver our paperwork after completing your project to inspect and set your new meter. We usually deliver that paperwork the same day we set the last panel. We will follow up with them if needed.
IMPORTANT: If the meter has been set, contact us immediately so we can schedule our appointment to activate the system.
We will check your property even if you don’t contact us, but if they set it on Monday and we don’t check until Friday, you’ve lost a week’s production for nothing.
We will schedule our final appointment right away. In fact, we do same-day final appointment when possible! So if you see them show up with a meter, give us a call even while they’re still out there working and we will be there ASAP!
Your final amount due will be required before we activate your system. So be prepared to present payment when we arrive to your final appointment.
If using our loan program, we have already received payment in full.
At your final appointment:
Payment is collected. There will be a $50 service charge for no-shows or customers unable to present payment in full. The rest of the appointment will be terminated until final payment has been collected. Tampering with the system and/or meter in attempts to self-connect will terminate your warranty.
NOTE: It is not necessary to be present if using the loan program, as your account is already paid in full.
System is activated and a final check on equipment is made.
Monitoring system is activated (if applicable).
Homeowner will be educated on how to monitor system online, and give all necessary instructions on system functions and features.
While OTG Solar is always just a phone call away, this is our final transaction for your project. After this appointment, we will send your “paid in full” receipt for your tax rebates.
We are done at this point.
All paperwork has been turned in for rebates.
Rebates are being processed.
Rebate money will be mailed directly to you from wherever they’re coming from and will not cross our office before reaching your mailbox.
If you have any further questions about your rebates, please contact them directly.
If you have any further questions about your system, please contact our office.
